Industrial Abrasives

Consumables do the actual cutting, so the wrong abrasive costs more in labour than it ever saves in unit price. Entrepot supplies flap and cutting discs, sanding belts, tungsten carbide burrs and industrial wire brushes from Lessmann, Sun Made, Procut and EM2.

Stainless work in particular needs abrasives kept separate from carbon steel to avoid contamination, and we can advise on the right grade for the finish you are specifying.

Industrial Abrasives — Frequently Asked Questions

Questions we are asked most often when buyers specify industrial abrasives.

Ask our team
Which abrasive should I use on stainless steel?
Use abrasives specifically marked contaminant-free or INOX. Anything previously used on carbon steel will embed iron particles into the stainless and cause rust spots later. Keep the two sets separate.
What is the difference between a flap disc and a grinding wheel?
A grinding wheel removes material fast but leaves a coarse finish. A flap disc grinds and blends in one pass, giving a smoother result with less risk of gouging. Most fabricators keep both.
Do you stock tungsten carbide burrs?
Yes, in a range of shapes and cuts for die grinders. Tell us the material and the access you have and we will recommend the profile.
How do I stop abrasive discs wearing out so quickly?
Usually too much pressure or the wrong grade. Let the abrasive do the work at the correct speed. If discs are still going fast, send us the application and we will suggest a better match.
